Expertly spreading mayonnaise on a slice of white bread
perfectly positioning the tomatoes
BEAT
Slicing on the diagonal
Then crisply wrapping it in wax paper with the skill of an origami master
Harriet (V.O.): “Truth is, -”
Harriet (V.O.): “- I’ve been in a tomato sandwich-withmayonnaise-on-white-bread mood-”
Harriet (V.O.): “-for about five-and-a-half straight years”
*Scribbling sfx

Harriet (V.O.): “my mom has said this:”
Mrs. Welsch: “Harriet,”
Mrs. Welsch: “If you eat another tomato sandwich,-”
Mrs. Welsch: “-you’re going to turn into a tomato sandwich”
Harriet (V.O.): “And about 2,008 times I’ve said:”
Harriet: “I wish.”
She grabs her lunch bag

Ole Golly puts her hand on Harriet’s shoulder
and walks her out the door.
